Jessi Grieser is Assistant Professor of Linguistics in the Department of English at the University of Tennessee. Her research focuses on the use of African American English in expressions of the intersectional identities of race, place, and social class. Her monograph project underway looks at the use of AAE in constructing place identity for residents of a historically African American neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Her other research interests include language diffusion on the world wide web, especially discourse in fan communities.
